Is Mid-March Too Late to Send Colleges Extra Information?
I am waiting to hear from three schools and I should have choices within the next a couple of weeks roughly. I recently got an award and I also’m wondering if it’s too late to send it in to supplement my applications. Should I send this in, or is it maybe not beneficial? Or can it perhaps annoy them? Or are decisions made currently? Sorry for so numerous concerns.
You should not apologize for the concerns. That’s just what ‘The Dean’ will be here for, and the college admission procedure is so confusing that it raises concerns galore.
There is actually no disadvantage to notifying your universities concerning the brand new prize, despite having your verdicts looming. But only send the news if you feel that you’ve won a crucial award, and ‘important’ is defined differently according to where you are applying. At the most hyper-competitive places ( like the Ivies and any school having an acceptance price in single digits or teenagers), only a major honor (national, most readily useful in state, etc.) would go the needle only at that late date. But at most other colleges, in the event that you feel that the honor you merely received is a significant one, then email your regional admissions rep today. The colleges if you can’t decide what qualifies as ‘significant’ write back to explain your award and name. And when you do deliver the headlines to your universities, be sure to explain the honor to the admission
